About The Kissing Booth When I was 15, I wrote The Kissing Booth because I was tired of only finding YA romance books about vampires and werewolves. I wanted to read a regular high school romance, and when I couldn't find one, I wrote my own. I started posting The Kissing Booth to Wattpad, where it won the 2011 Most Popular Teen Fiction Watty Award (a competition where users could vote for the book they wanted to win). It accumulated over 19 million reads on Wattpad, catching the attention of an editor at Random House, who contacted me. About a week later, Random House offered me a three-book deal!
